The ground shook for almost 20 seconds in Delhi-NCR.
Tremors from an earthquake were reported in the Delhi-NCR region as well as other areas of north India. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reports that a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir 30 km southeast of Kishtwar. For about twenty seconds, there were vibrations.
In Himachal Pradesh, Mandi, Kullu, and Bilaspur reportedly felt earthquake shocks. Lahore in Pakistan also experienced tremors.
The director of the National Centre for Seismology, Dr. OP Mishra, stated, "Today's Doda earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir had a magnitude of 5.4. It's possible that HP, Chandigarh, Punjab, and all surrounding areas experienced tremors. Perhaps the aftershock won't be as strong as the primary shock.
According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6 km. No casualties or property damage were immediately reported.
A Srinagar native claimed, "The earthquake alarmed schoolchildren. Shop patrons hurried out. It spooked me. The vibrations from previous week weren't as strong as this one.
